Tell me about your project.
As a designer my practice responds to events which are happening across the globe and
raise awareness of inhumane and unjust practices. The ongoing and horrific events in
Ukraine enabled me to oppose the war and it’s atrocities and promote solidarity and peace
What have you enjoyed most with your collaboration with Heavy Jeans?
The collaboration with Heavy Jeans has been an amazing experience. The opportunity to
work alongside the design team enabled me to receive industry feedback and gain an insight
in to the international denim market. Manuela provided us with the opportunity to develop our
confidence and professional practice as young designers, and develop commercial and
marketable products.
How has this experience informed your practice as a designer?
This experience has enabled me to develop innovative and sustainable design practices
whilst maintaining commerciality. You can retain your identity as a designer and design
products that appeal to a diverse range of consumers.
Why is sustainability important in the fashion industry?
The impact of the fashion industry on our world is producing significant pollution and harming
our natural resources. As a young designer shortly entering the fashion industry we are in a
privilege position to act as agents of change and instil sustainable design and production
practices in order to reverse the devasting impact it’s had on our planet.
